Facial Peels

Chemical skin peels can be very efficacious in reducing the look of fine surface lines and wrinkles, pigment variations blemishes, and acne scar treatment Sheffield; They help to smooth the skin and improve its texture and appearance. They can help reduce the ageing effects of sun exposure and smoking, giving your skin a healthier, more youthful glow.

Facial peels can be used to treat a particular area (such as lines around the mouth or eyes) or all over the arms, hands, face and neck.

A chemical skin peel works by removing the old, dead skin cells on the surface of the skin to promote new cell growth.

Your aesthetics nurse Esther Mutch will apply the gel to the selected treatment area, and this will be left to absorb for a few minutes. The peel is subsequently neutralised, and an appropriate sun blocker and skin care product applied.

You might feel a mild tingling to a warming of the skin.

Following the treatment, it is normal for there to be a slight reddening of the skin. You shall be able to recommence your normal day-to-day activities.

For best results, we do recommend a course of 4 – 6 treatments, at weekly to 4 weekly intervals.

After receiving a chemical peel, it is best to avoid intense sunlight and high temperatures for 7-10 days. We would also recommend that you use a high factor sunscreen for this period as your skin will be quite sensitive after the peel.

A number of peels are available for use in the acne patient. Most have their effect by their keratolytic action, removing the top dead skin layers of the skin and unseating comedones and freeing the flow of sebum and reducing the occurrence of inflammatory lesions.

The EnerPeel range is very useful as these peels are very easy to use and have been shown to be effective.

EnerPeel is a carrier system whereby carrier molecules attach to the acid molecules rendering them inactive and there is no water in the EnerPeel vials. This allows the addition of acne treatment ingredients into the carrier solution within the peel.

We use a number of different EnerPeel skin peels with Salicylic acid and Pyruvic acid, and also use microneedling with a Derma FNS device. Pyruvic acid peel is more skin penetrating than salicylic and so is more skin remodelling and is very useful for post acne oiliness and superficial post acne damage and scars.
